About Marineland
Marineland was a marine mammal park located in Antibes, France. It opened in 1970 and was home to various marine animals, including dolphins, orcas, sea lions, and sharks. Marineland became a popular tourist attraction in the French Riviera, offering various shows and attractions such as the Dolphin Show, the Orca Show, the Shark Tunnel, and the Penguin Encounter. The park also featured a mini-farm, a playground, and several restaurants and snack bars. Marineland faced criticism from animal welfare organizations for its captivity of marine animals, with some claiming that the animals were subjected to stressful and unnatural living conditions. The park implemented various measures to improve animal welfare in its final years, such as increasing the size of enclosures and providing enrichment activities for the animals. Marineland closed permanently in January 2025.
