About Cap'Découverte
Near Carmaux in the Tarn, Cap'Découverte is a vast multi-leisure resort created on the reclaimed site of a former open-cast coal mine — a remarkable transformation of an industrial landscape into a place of recreation. Opened in 2003 around a great artificial lake in the old pit, it offers an extraordinary variety of activities across the seasons: water sports and swimming on the lake, a dry ski slope and toboggan run, mountain-biking and BMX trails, skate parks, a via ferrata and open-air concerts. This unusual blend of sport, leisure and post-industrial scenery makes it a striking and versatile destination. Spacious, energetic and unlike any conventional park, Cap'Découverte is a bold reinvention of the mining country of the Tarn and a lively outdoor playground for the whole family.
