About Château de Bizy

At Vernon in Normandy, near Giverny, the Château de Bizy is a magnificent 18th-century château sometimes called the "Norman Versailles" for the grandeur of its architecture and grounds. Built for a marshal of France and later owned by royalty, including King Louis-Philippe, it is famous for its splendid stables, monumental fountains and a beautiful landscaped park adorned with statues and cascades. Inside, richly furnished state rooms evoke the refined life of the aristocracy and royalty who lived here, with fine tapestries, furniture and souvenirs of the First Empire. Grand, elegant and beautifully set in its park, the Château de Bizy offers a superb glimpse of 18th-century splendour and royal history, a delightful heritage stop in the Seine valley of Normandy, easily combined with a visit to Monet's gardens at nearby Giverny.
