About Château de Comper
The Château de Comper, also known as the Château de Comper-en-Brocéliande, is a castle located in the forest of Brocéliande in Brittany, France. The castle was built during the 11th century and was later transformed into a fortified manor house in the 15th century. The castle was owned by various families over the centuries, including the powerful House of Laval, and was eventually abandoned in the 17th century. In the 19th century, the castle was bought and restored by the wealthy banker Edouard Leclerc, who added a tower and a chapel. The castle has since become a museum dedicated to the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, which are associated with the nearby forest of Brocéliande. Visitors can explore the castle and its gardens, which include a lake and a small island that is said to be the home of the fairy Viviane, also known as the Lady of the Lake. The castle also hosts various cultural events and exhibitions throughout the year.
