About Château de Fléchères

North of Lyon, at Fareins in the Ain, the Château de Fléchères is a fine château of the early 17th century, celebrated for its exceptional interior decoration. Behind its harmonious classical façade, set in a park with moats and gardens beside the Saône, the château preserves one of the most remarkable sets of early-17th-century frescoes in France, painted by an Italian master, which cover the walls of its grand rooms with mythological and decorative scenes of great beauty. Rescued and restored, these rare paintings make Fléchères a jewel of its period. Elegant, refined and beautifully preserved, the Château de Fléchères offers a superb glimpse of 17th-century architecture and a rare treasure of fresco painting, a rewarding heritage stop in the countryside of the Dombes north of Lyon, a delightful discovery for lovers of art and fine châteaux.
