About Château de Fléville

Château de Fléville is a castle located in the commune of Fléville-devant-Nancy in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle in northeastern France. It was built in the 16th century by Jean de Chevigné, a wealthy merchant from Nancy, and was completed in the 17th century by his son, also named Jean de Chevigné. The castle is surrounded by a moat and a large park, and features a mix of architectural styles, including Renaissance and Gothic. The main building has four towers and a central courtyard, and is adorned with ornate decorations and sculptures. During the French Revolution, the castle was seized by the state and used as a prison. Later, it served as a military hospital during World War I and II. Today, the Château de Fléville is open to the public and offers guided tours of its various rooms, including the chapel, dining room, and bedrooms. Visitors can also enjoy the gardens and park, which offer views of the surrounding countryside.
