About Château de Laréole
In the Lauragais countryside between Toulouse and the Gers, the Château de Laréole is a beautiful Renaissance château of the 16th century, built of the warm red brick typical of the region, its rosy walls glowing in the southern sun. A fine example of southern Renaissance architecture, with harmonious proportions, mullioned windows and elegant towers, the château rises amid a park and gardens, evoking the wealth that the pastel (woad) trade brought to the region in its golden age. Now owned by the department, it hosts exhibitions and cultural events in a superb setting. Elegant, warm-hued and beautifully preserved, the Château de Laréole offers a delightful glimpse of the brick Renaissance of the Toulouse region, a charming heritage stop in the sunny countryside of the Haute-Garonne, a fine example of the pastel wealth of the Lauragais.
