About Château de Salignac

Château de Puymartin is a 13th-century castle located in the Dordogne region of France, near the city of Sarlat-la-Canéda. The castle was originally built in the 13th century, but underwent several renovations and expansions over the centuries. It is known for its remarkable architecture, including its medieval keep, the Renaissance style wing, and the Louis XIII style chapel. The castle has a rich and fascinating history. During the Hundred Years War, it was a stronghold of the English, but was eventually taken by the French in the 15th century. The castle was also involved in the Wars of Religion in the 16th century, and was damaged during the French Revolution. It was later abandoned and fell into disrepair before being restored in the 19th century. Today, Château de Puymartin is open to the public and offers guided tours. Visitors can explore the castle's impressive architecture and learn about its history and the people who lived there. The castle is also home to a collection of 17th and 18th century furniture, tapestries, and paintings, as well as a collection of armor and weapons. The surrounding grounds are also a popular attraction, featuring gardens, a maze, and a woodland walk.
