About Château de Serrant

The Château de Serrant is a Renaissance château located in the Loire Valley of France, near the city of Angers. Built in the 14th century, the castle was extensively remodeled during the Renaissance and is considered one of the most beautiful examples of French Renaissance architecture. The castle was originally a medieval fortress, built by the Serrant family in the 14th century. In the 16th century, the castle was purchased by the Brie family, who remodeled it in the Renaissance style. The castle's most notable owner was Charles de Brie, who was a close friend of King Henry IV of France. The castle's architecture is characterized by its symmetrical facade, elegant towers, and ornate sculptures. Inside, the castle is filled with beautiful furnishings, tapestries, and artwork, including works by Rubens, Van Dyck, and Poussin. Today, the Château de Serrant is open to the public and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Loire Valley. Visitors can tour the castle's interior, stroll through its gardens, and attend cultural events such as concerts and exhibitions. The castle also offers guided tours and educational programs for children.
