About Château de Villemolin

Château de Villemolin is a castle located in the commune of Anthien, in the Nièvre department in central France. It was built in the 18th century in the Louis XV style and is considered one of the finest examples of this type of architecture in the region. The castle was built on the site of a former medieval fortress, and some of the original fortifications were incorporated into the design. The castle is surrounded by a moat and features a central pavilion flanked by two wings. The interior of the castle is richly decorated with stucco and frescoes, and features a grand staircase, a chapel, and a series of salons and bedrooms. The castle also houses a collection of furniture, paintings, and tapestries. The castle has a rich history, having been owned by several notable families over the centuries, including the La Rochefoucauld, Ségur, and Colbert families. It was also used as a military hospital during World War II. Today, the castle is open to the public for guided tours, and is also used as a venue for concerts and cultural events. Its beautiful gardens and surrounding countryside make it a popular destination for tourists visiting the region.
