About Balzac Museum
In the peaceful Indre valley near Tours, the Château de Saché houses the Balzac Museum, devoted to one of the giants of French literature, Honoré de Balzac, who often stayed in this quiet manor and found here the calm to write some of his greatest novels. The elegant château, set in a beautiful park, preserves the writer's room and study much as he knew them, along with manuscripts, proofs corrected in his famously frenzied hand, portraits and personal belongings that bring his life and prodigious work vividly to life. The tranquil Touraine landscapes that inspired several of his books surround the house. Atmospheric, literary and beautifully preserved, the Balzac Museum at Saché offers a moving and intimate encounter with the creator of the Comédie humaine, in the very setting where he found inspiration — a rewarding stop for book lovers in the châteaux country of the Loire.
