About Museum of the Dolder

In the enchanting Alsatian wine village of Riquewihr, the Musée du Dolder occupies one of the village's most emblematic monuments: the Dolder, a splendid fortified gate-tower of the 13th century that still guards the entrance to the medieval town. Climbing the old wooden staircases of this belfry-gate, visitors discover a small but charming museum of local history, displaying weapons, tools, engravings, everyday objects and reconstructed interiors that evoke the life and defence of Riquewihr through the centuries. From the top, fine views open over the village's flower-decked streets, half-timbered houses and the surrounding vineyards. Atmospheric, historic and picturesque, the Musée du Dolder offers both a step back into the medieval past of Riquewihr and a superb vantage point over one of the most beautiful villages of the Alsace Wine Route.
