About Palais Lascaris Museum

In the heart of Vieux-Nice, the Palais Lascaris is a magnificent 17th-century aristocratic palace, one of the finest Baroque buildings on the Riviera, now a museum of musical instruments. Built by the noble Lascaris-Vintimille family, its sumptuous interiors — a grand staircase, frescoed ceilings, painted panels, tapestries and stucco — evoke the splendour of Genoese-influenced Nice. Within these opulent rooms is displayed one of the most important collections of historic musical instruments in France, including rare and beautiful violins, guitars, lutes and wind instruments, some by great makers. The palace itself, with its ornate façade and lavish decoration, is as much a treasure as its collections. Sumptuous, atmospheric and richly cultural, the Palais Lascaris offers a double delight of Baroque architecture and musical heritage in the very heart of the old town of Nice.
