In the beautiful Château Grimaldi overlooking the sea at Antibes, near Nice, the Musée Picasso occupies a place of special significance: in 1946, Pablo Picasso was given studio space in the old castle, and in a burst of creativity produced a remarkable body of work there, much of which he left to the museum. Today the sunlit rooms of this ancient seaside château display those joyful paintings, drawings and ceramics — full of the light, mythology and Mediterranean spirit of the Riviera — making it one of the world's most important collections of the artist's post-war work.
