About Canyon de la Restonica
Rising from the old citadel town of Corte deep in the Corsican mountains, the Vallée de la Restonica is one of the island's most beloved natural sites — a glacial valley of tumbling torrents, pine forest and, at its head, a pair of jewel-like mountain lakes. A narrow, winding road climbs to a car park from where a rocky but rewarding path leads up to the Lac de Melo and, higher still, the Lac de Capitello, cradled beneath jagged peaks. Along the way the Restonica river slides over pink granite slabs into clear, cold pools perfect for a bracing summer swim. Wild, high and spectacularly scenic, the Restonica is a magnet for hikers and a gateway to the roof of Corsica.
