About Cap Blanc-Nez
Rising sheer and white above the Channel on the Côte d'Opale, Cap Blanc-Nez is a great chalk headland whose grassy summit offers one of the most breathtaking views in northern France — across the narrow strait to the white cliffs of Dover, clearly visible on a fine day. Below, pale cliffs plunge to a wild beach, while above, an obelisk honours the sailors of the Dover Patrol and skylarks hover over the windswept turf. Walkers follow the clifftop path between the two great caps of the Opal Coast, and hang-gliders launch from the heights. Bracing, luminous and steeped in the history of the Channel crossings, Cap Blanc-Nez is one of the great natural balconies of the French coast.
