About Cascade aux Écrevisses

The most visited waterfall in Guadeloupe, the Cascade aux Écrevisses is a small but idyllic fall on the Corossol river, deep in the rainforest of the Guadeloupe National Park on Basse-Terre. Reached by a short, easy path off the Route de la Traversée, it spills a few metres over dark rock into a cool green pool ringed by tree ferns, bamboo and dripping tropical greenery — a perfect, shaded spot for a refreshing dip after the heat of the coast. Its name recalls the freshwater crayfish that once thronged the stream. Popular and easily accessible, it makes an ideal introduction to the lush interior of Basse-Terre, gateway to the wilder trails that climb toward the Soufrière volcano.
