About Cascade d'Ars
Deep in the mountains of the Couserans near the spa village of Aulus-les-Bains, the Cascade d'Ars is one of the finest waterfalls in the Ariège Pyrenees. Fed by high glacial lakes, the river Ars tumbles down the mountainside in a spectacular triple leap of well over 200 metres, its tiers of white water framed by beech forest. A well-marked, much-loved trail climbs for a couple of hours from Aulus through the woods to a viewpoint facing the falls, and on to the lake that feeds them. Best in early summer when the snowmelt is at full roar, the Cascade d'Ars rewards the effort with one of the great natural spectacles of the central Pyrenees.
