About Cascade de Glandieu
On the edge of the Bugey hills in the Ain, the Cascade de Glandieu is a lovely and unusually accessible waterfall, where a river drops some sixty metres over a broad rock face in a wide, foaming curtain right beside the village and road. Framed by greenery and rising mist, the falls once powered mills and a small hydro-electric works, and their steady roar makes them a refreshing stop on a hot day. Easy to reach and admire, with picnic spots nearby, they are a popular and photogenic natural attraction of the Bas-Bugey. Broad, powerful and beautifully set among woods and old millstones, the Cascade de Glandieu is one of the prettiest and most easily enjoyed waterfalls of the eastern Rhône-Alpes.
