About Cascade Langevin
Also known as the Cascade de Grand Galet, the Cascade Langevin is one of the most beautiful waterfalls of Réunion Island, set on the Rivière Langevin in the wild south near Saint-Joseph. Here the river spreads across a broad rock face and pours down in a wide fan of countless white threads into a large green pool, framed by tropical vegetation and volcanic rock. A scenic road follows the lush Langevin valley up to the falls, passing smaller cascades and natural pools popular for swimming along the way. Powerful and luxuriant, especially after the island's tropical rains, the Cascade Langevin is a favourite excursion in the deep south of Réunion — a place of falling water, vivid greenery and warm mountain air.
