About Cascade Voile de la Mariée
Cascading down the sheer green ramparts that enclose the Cirque de Salazie on Réunion Island, the Voile de la Mariée — the "Bride's Veil" — is one of the most photographed waterfalls of the Indian Ocean's most spectacular island. Multiple slender ribbons of water fan out across the cliff face like a bridal veil, plunging hundreds of metres through dense tropical forest beside the road to the village of Hell-Bourg. Fed by Réunion's famously heavy rains, the falls are at their most breathtaking after a downpour, when dozens of threads of white water pour from the volcanic wall. Easily admired from a roadside viewpoint, the Voile de la Mariée is an unmissable sight on any journey into the lush, crater-ringed heart of Salazie.
