About Cascades du Hérisson
In the heart of the Jura, the Cascades du Hérisson are the region's most famous natural spectacle — a superb succession of waterfalls where the young river Hérisson tumbles nearly three hundred metres down a wooded valley in a chain of cascades and pools. A well-marked trail follows the river past the whole sequence, from the powerful plunge of the Éventail, spreading like a fan over the rock, to the sheer curtain of the Grand Saut and countless smaller falls between. Framed by cliffs and lush forest, cool with spray and birdsong, it is one of the great walks of eastern France, magnificent after rain or snowmelt. Wild, verdant and endlessly photogenic, the Cascades du Hérisson are the natural jewel of the Jura lakes country.
