About Forêt de Rambouillet
South-west of Paris, the Forêt de Rambouillet — historically the Forêt d'Yveline — is one of the great forest massifs of the Île-de-France, some 20,000 hectares of oak, pine and heath dotted with ponds and rocky outcrops. Long a royal hunting domain attached to the château of Rambouillet, it remains a haven for red and roe deer, wild boar and abundant birdlife. Families come for the Espace Rambouillet, a wildlife park where deer, wild boar and birds of prey can be seen at close range, while walkers, cyclists and riders explore hundreds of kilometres of trails through the trees. Green, tranquil and easily reached from the capital, Rambouillet is a favourite breathing space on the doorstep of Paris.
