About Golfe du Morbihan

Its name means "little sea" in Breton, and the Golfe du Morbihan is exactly that — an almost enclosed inland sea in southern Brittany, dotted with dozens of islands and threaded by blue channels where the tide runs strong. Blessed with a mild, almost Mediterranean climate, it is a sailor's paradise and a place of exceptional beauty, its islands ranging from the flowery Île aux Moines to the megalithic wonders of Gavrinis, whose Neolithic carved tomb rivals anything in Europe. Oyster beds, birdlife-rich marshes and pretty ports ring its shores, watched over by the old walled city of Vannes. Explored by boat, bicycle or coastal path, the Gulf of Morbihan is one of the most beautiful and beloved seascapes in all of France.
