About Gorges du Loup
Just inland from the Côte d'Azur near the perched village of Gourdon, the Gorges du Loup carve a deep, green ravine into the limestone hills above Grasse. The river Loup rushes between towering cliffs past a string of waterfalls — the Cascade de Courmes and the strange, tufa-draped Saut du Loup among them — and swirls into clear emerald pools. A scenic road follows the gorge, with viewpoints over the chasm, while the medieval eagle's-nest village of Gourdon looks down from its crag high above. Cool and shaded even in the Riviera heat, popular for walking, canyoning and simply admiring the falls, the Gorges du Loup are a refreshing mountain escape only a short drive from the coast.
