About Grotte de Morgat

Along the wild cliffs of the Crozon peninsula in Brittany, the sea caves of Morgat are one of the highlights of the Finistère coast — a series of colourful marine grottoes carved by the Atlantic into the base of the sheer rock, reached by boat from the little resort of Morgat. Gliding beneath towering cliffs, small tour boats slip into vaulted caverns where the walls glow with veins of purple, ochre and green mineral, and the swell echoes in the shadowy chambers; the grandest, the Grotte de l'Autel, is named for a rock resembling an altar. Accessible only from the water and dependent on the tide, the caves offer a memorable seaborne adventure amid magnificent coastal scenery. Colourful, dramatic and beautifully wild, the sea caves of Morgat are a jewel of the Crozon coast.
