About Hohneck
At 1,363 metres the Hohneck is one of the highest and most beloved summits of the Vosges, a rounded grassy peak crowning the glacial cirques above La Bresse and the Munster valley. Reached directly by the panoramic Route des Crêtes or on foot across the high moorland, its summit gives one of the finest views in eastern France — over the whole Vosges chain, the Alsace plain, the Black Forest and, on clear days, the distant snow of the Alps. Below, sheer walls cradle wild lakes and rare alpine flowers, while herds graze the ridge-top pastures that produce the region's famous cheeses. A hikers' and skiers' favourite in every season, the Hohneck is the balcony of the Vosges.
