About Île de Bréhat
Off the pink-granite coast of Brittany near Paimpol, the Île de Bréhat is a car-free island famous as the "island of flowers". Warmed by a mild microclimate, its sheltered lanes and gardens overflow with mimosa, agapanthus, hydrangeas and palms, an almost Mediterranean profusion at the northern edge of Brittany. Really two islets joined by a small bridge, it contrasts a soft, flowery south with a wilder, rose-coloured northern moorland scattered with pink granite rocks, culminating at the Paon lighthouse. Reached by a short ferry crossing and explored only on foot or by bicycle, Bréhat is a place of luminous calm, sea views and blossom — one of the most enchanting little islands on the whole coast of France.
