About Île Molène

A tiny speck of land in the wild Mer d'Iroise between Ouessant and the Breton mainland, the Île Molène is one of the smallest inhabited islands in France, so small it can be crossed on foot in minutes. Car-free and windswept, it is a place of whitewashed cottages, drystone walls and huge skies, ringed by a maze of rocks and reefs that shelter grey seals, dolphins and countless seabirds within a protected marine nature reserve. Life here follows the rhythm of the tides and the boats, and fresh water is precious on this rock in the ocean. Reached by ferry from Le Conquet, Molène offers a rare, deeply peaceful taste of island life at the very edge of the Atlantic.
