About Lac d'Orient
At the heart of the Forêt d'Orient Regional Nature Park east of Troyes, the Lac d'Orient is the most popular of a trio of great reservoirs built to regulate the Seine and Aube. Ringed by oak forest and reed-fringed bays, it combines a lively leisure side — sailing, swimming from supervised beaches, windsurfing and pedal boats — with a strictly protected ornithological reserve where ospreys, cranes and countless waterbirds find shelter. Sandy shores, marinas and shady picnic spots welcome summer crowds, while walkers and cyclists follow the paths that thread the surrounding woodland. Close to the Champagne vineyards and the medieval streets of Troyes, Orient offers a rare balance of open-air fun and quiet, birdrich wilderness.
