About Lac de Gérardmer

Cradled in a glacial hollow of the Vosges mountains, the Lac de Gérardmer is the largest natural lake in the range and the jewel of the resort town that shares its name — long nicknamed the "Pearl of the Vosges". Fed by clear mountain streams and rimmed by dark spruce forest, it draws families in summer for swimming, pedal boats, sailing and lakeside strolls, while the surrounding slopes turn to skiing in winter. A gentle path loops the shore, passing beaches, boat jetties and belle-époque villas that recall the town's early tourist heyday. Easy to reach yet framed by wild wooded ridges, Gérardmer offers the classic Vosges blend of fresh air, still water and mountain calm.
