About Lac de Naussac

On the high, windswept edge of the Margeride near Langogne in Lozère, the Lac de Naussac is a large reservoir built in the 1980s to support the flow of the river Allier. Its open water and steady breezes have made it one of the leading sailing and windsurfing spots in the Massif Central, with a lakeside base offering catamarans, dinghies and paddle craft, plus a supervised beach for swimmers. Walkers and cyclists follow the paths that circle the shore, and the surrounding highlands are rich in birdlife. Cool, uncrowded and framed by rolling granite country, Naussac is a breezy outdoor playground and a welcome patch of blue on the great volcanic plateaux of southern Auvergne.
