About Lac de Pareloup
Spread across the granite Lévézou plateau between Rodez and Millau, the Lac de Pareloup is one of the largest artificial lakes in France, its deeply indented shore stretching for well over a hundred kilometres. Built to power a chain of hydroelectric stations, it has become the leisure heart of the Aveyron highlands, with sandy supervised beaches, marinas and a string of lakeside resorts offering sailing, windsurfing, paddleboarding and warm-water swimming. Wooded peninsulas and quiet coves reward those who explore by boat or on the shoreline paths. Set in rolling green upland country dotted with old villages, Pareloup pairs generous open water with the big skies and fresh air of the southern Massif Central.
