About Lac de Pierre-Percée

Hidden in the forests of the southern Vosges near the Lorraine–Alsace border, the Lac de Pierre-Percée — also known as the Lac de la Plaine — is a large reservoir prized for its deep blue-green water and its wild, wooded shoreline. Long inlets wind between forested spurs, giving it an almost fjord-like feel best appreciated from a pedal boat, canoe or the panoramic footpaths above. A supervised beach welcomes swimmers in summer, while anglers, mountain bikers and walkers spread out along the many miles of shore. Built to regulate the local rivers, the lake has become one of the quietest natural escapes in the region — a place of still water, birdsong and endless green, far from the crowds.
