About Lac de Serre-Ponçon
One of the largest artificial lakes in Western Europe, Lake Serre-Ponçon spreads its dazzling turquoise waters across the Hautes-Alpes, created by damming the Durance river. Set amid sun-drenched mountains, it is a magnet for water sports — sailing, swimming, kayaking and windsurfing — while the tiny Saint-Michel chapel, marooned on an islet, has become its emblem.
