About Parc naturel régional de Camargue

Where the Rhône splits and spills into the Mediterranean, the Parc naturel régional de Camargue protects one of the great wetlands of Europe — a vast, flat mosaic of lagoons, reed beds, salt pans and marshes teeming with life. It is famous above all for its wildlife: thousands of pink flamingos wade its shallow étangs, while the white horses and black bulls of the Camargue, tended by the region's gardians, roam the salt meadows. Rice paddies, dazzling white salt mountains and the pilgrimage town of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer complete a landscape found nowhere else in France. Birdwatchers, riders and cyclists explore its dykes and reserves under huge southern skies. Wild, flat and luminous, the Camargue is a delta of extraordinary natural richness.
