About Parc naturel régional du Verdon

Built around the most famous canyon in Europe, the Parc naturel régional du Verdon protects a sublime slice of Haute-Provence where the turquoise river Verdon has carved its immense gorges through the limestone plateaus. Beyond the canyon rims lie sun-baked plateaus scented with lavender and thyme, perched villages such as Moustiers-Sainte-Marie famed for its faience, and the great turquoise lakes of Sainte-Croix and Quinson at the river's mouth. Hikers tackle the dizzying gorge trails, kayakers and swimmers take to the emerald water, and cyclists follow the lavender roads across the plateaus. Combining spectacular natural drama, Provençal villages and outstanding outdoor sport, the Verdon park is one of the most beautiful protected landscapes in the south of France.
