About Pic du Midi de Bigorre
Crowned by one of the most famous observatories in the world, the Pic du Midi de Bigorre soars to 2,877 metres above the Pyrenees, reached not on foot but by a soaring cable car from the ski resort of La Mongie. From its terraces, suspended walkways and glass-floored viewpoint, visitors gaze out over a 300-kilometre sweep of the Pyrenean chain, from the plains of Gascony to the peaks of Spain. Certified as an International Dark Sky Reserve, the summit is a magical place after nightfall, when the Milky Way blazes overhead and overnight stays let guests sleep among the stars. Part science, part spectacle, the Pic du Midi offers one of the great mountain experiences in France without a single step of climbing.
