About Plage d'Hendaye
At the very south-western corner of France, where the Basque coast meets the Spanish border, the Plage d'Hendaye unrolls the longest sandy beach in the French Basque Country — nearly three kilometres of golden sand backed by a lively seafront promenade. Its gently sloping shore and often manageable waves make it a favourite for families and beginner surfers alike, watched over at its northern end by the twin rocks of the Deux Jumeaux rising from the sea and the fairy-tale silhouette of the Château d'Abbadia on the cliffs above. Framed by the green Pyrenean foothills and the mountains of Spain across the bay, Hendaye combines wide, safe bathing with striking Basque scenery — a sunny, family-friendly gateway to the Pays Basque.
