Hidden within the wild Désert des Agriates in northern Corsica, the Plage de Saleccia is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches in the Mediterranean — a kilometre of dazzling white sand lapped by water of pure turquoise, backed by dunes and umbrella pines rather than a single building. Its remoteness is part of its magic: it can be reached only on foot along the coastal path, by rugged four-wheel-drive track or by boat from Saint-Florent, which keeps it blissfully wild. The sea is warm, shallow and impossibly clear, ideal for swimming and snorkelling. With no roads, no resorts and no crowds, Saleccia offers a rare glimpse of the Corsican coast as nature made it — pure sand, clear water and fragrant maquis.
