About Plomb du Cantal
At 1,855 metres the Plomb du Cantal is the highest summit of the Cantal, the eroded heart of what was once one of the largest volcanoes in Europe. Rising above the ski resort of Le Lioran, it is one of the most accessible high peaks in the Massif Central, reached by a cable car and a short walk or by fine ridge trails across flower-filled high pastures grazed by Salers cattle. From its broad summit an immense panorama unfurls over the radiating valleys of the Cantal, the Puy Mary, the Sancy and, on clear days, half of central France. Grassy, breezy and gently grand, the Plomb du Cantal is the rooftop of the Cantal massif and a superb balcony over the volcanic Auvergne.
