About Puy Mary-Peyre Arse
Peyre Arse rises to 1,806 metres on the great volcanic crest of the Cantal, close to the celebrated pyramid of the Puy Mary, and forms one of the highlights of the magnificent ridge walk that links the summits of this ancient, eroded stratovolcano. From its rocky top, one of the finest panoramas in the Massif Central unfolds over the radiating valleys of the Cantal, the neighbouring Puy Mary and Puy Griou, and endless flowered high pastures grazed by Salers cattle. The airy traverse of the crest, passing from summit to summit high above the valleys, is one of the great mountain outings of Auvergne. Wild, grand and richly scenic, Peyre Arse is a proud peak on the rooftop of the Cantal.
