About Signal du Luguet
Rising from the vast open grasslands of the Cézallier on the borders of the Cantal and the Puy-de-Dôme, the Signal du Luguet is one of the high points of this wild, rolling volcanic plateau, a rounded summit crowning an ocean of high pasture and peat bog. Reached across treeless moorland grazed by cattle in summer and often deep in snow in winter, it offers a magnificent, almost limitless panorama over the Sancy, the Cantal and the Cézallier's empty green immensities. There are no crowds here, only wind, wide skies and the whistle of the curlew. Remote, austere and gloriously spacious, the Signal du Luguet is a superb belvedere over one of the least-known and most beautiful highland landscapes of Auvergne.
