About Autoire Village
Nestled at the foot of towering limestone cliffs in the Lot, Autoire is one of the loveliest of the Plus Beaux Villages de France, so graceful with its manor houses, turrets and dovecotes that it has been nicknamed "the little Versailles of the Quercy". Its cluster of golden-stone houses with brown-tiled roofs gathers around a Romanesque church in a natural amphitheatre of cliffs, at the edge of which a beautiful waterfall tumbles down the rock. A footpath climbs to the ruins of the Château des Anglais, clinging to the cliff face, and to superb viewpoints over the village and the great rocky cirque. Elegant, romantic and magnificently set beneath its cliffs and cascade, Autoire is a jewel of the Quercy, a perfect blend of refined architecture and dramatic natural beauty.
