About Brousse-le-Château Village
Clinging to a rocky spur where the rivers Tarn and Alrance meet, Brousse-le-Château is one of the most picturesque of the Plus Beaux Villages de France, huddled beneath a mighty medieval castle in the wild countryside of the Aveyron. Its cluster of old stone houses with lauze-tiled roofs tumbles down the hillside to an ancient humpbacked Gothic bridge spanning the river, a scene of timeless beauty. The fortress above, one of the oldest in the region, guards the confluence and offers fine views over the deep valleys. Far from the crowds, wrapped in the rugged landscapes of the Rougier and the Tarn gorges, Brousse-le-Château is a perfectly preserved fragment of medieval Rouergue. Romantic, remote and utterly authentic, it is a jewel of the Aveyron countryside.
