About Lauzerte Village

Crowning a hilltop above the rolling countryside of the Quercy Blanc, Lauzerte is a beautiful medieval bastide, one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France, founded in the 12th century and long a welcome halt for pilgrims on the road to Santiago de Compostela. Its pale stone houses climb to a lovely arcaded central square, the Place des Cornières, ringed by covered walkways, medieval and Renaissance façades, artisan workshops and galleries. Narrow lanes and terraces open to sweeping views over the vineyards, orchards and gentle hills all around. With its Gothic churches, artistic community and pilgrim heritage, the village breathes a refined, tranquil charm. Handsome, panoramic and full of character, Lauzerte is a jewel of the Tarn-et-Garonne, a perfect place to soak up the atmosphere of medieval Gascony and the Compostela way.
