Crowning a hilltop above the rolling countryside of the Quercy Blanc, Lauzerte is a beautiful medieval bastide, one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France, founded in the 12th century and long a welcome halt for pilgrims on the road to Santiago de Compostela.
