About Ribeauvillé

On the Alsace Wine Route, at the foot of vine-clad hills crowned by three ruined castles, Ribeauvillé is one of the most beautiful towns in Alsace, a delightful ensemble of colourful half-timbered houses, flower-decked fountains and a picturesque medieval belfry, the Tour des Bouchers, straddling the main street. Long the seat of the powerful lords of Ribeaupierre, the town winds between winstubs, wine cellars and craft shops, wrapped in the vineyards that produce its great Rieslings and Gewurztraminers. Above, footpaths climb to the three castles for magnificent views over the plain of Alsace. Famous for its wines and for its Pfifferdaj minstrels' festival, and magical at Christmas, Ribeauvillé combines Alsatian charm, heritage and gastronomy. Colourful, welcoming and beautifully preserved, it is one of the jewels of the Alsace Wine Route.
