About Roscoff
On the north coast of Finistère, Roscoff is a beautiful old corsair and fishing port, its handsome granite houses recalling the wealth of the ship-owners and privateers who once sailed from here. Famous for its pink onions — carried to Britain by the itinerant "Johnnies" on their bicycles — and for its rich seafaring history, the town gathers around a lovely harbour and a fine Renaissance church with a distinctive belfry. Roscoff is also a pioneer of thalassotherapy, drawing visitors to its seawater cures, and a gateway to the wild Île de Batz just offshore. With its sober granite architecture, maritime heritage, seaweed-rich waters and bracing sea air, Roscoff combines authentic Breton character with the charm of a working port.
