About Saint-Jean-de-Côle Village

In the green Périgord Vert, Saint-Jean-de-Côle is a picture-perfect village, one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France, gathered around a lovely cobbled square where a curious domed Romanesque-Byzantine church, a Renaissance château and a covered market hall stand side by side. The river Côle is crossed by an old humpbacked medieval bridge, and the village's russet-tiled houses, many hung with wisteria and flowers, create a scene of exceptional charm. Famous for its spring flower festival, the "Floralies", the village is a delight to wander, its lanes leading past artisan workshops and half-timbered façades. Compact, harmonious and beautifully kept, wrapped in the gentle wooded countryside of the Dordogne, Saint-Jean-de-Côle is one of the prettiest villages of the Périgord and a perfect stop for lovers of old stones and flowers.
