Perched on a rocky spur above the valley of the Erve in the Mayenne, Sainte-Suzanne is a magnificent fortified hilltop village, one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France, famous as the stronghold that heroically resisted William the Conqueror for years in the 11th century.
